Setting Up Parked Domains, Redirects, and Addon Domains

In today's world of advertising, your web site may be dedicated to multiple products or themes. Because of this you may find it necessary to have additional domain names associated with your main domain name. We offer three services to assist you in this area. These services may be ordered from your Account Manager > Order > Product Addons

Parked Domains
Sometimes referred to as a pointer domain. This parks a domain on top of another domain. For example, you have the domain name yourdomain.com. Then you decided to register the domain name yourdomain.net. You wanted yourdomain.net to resolve to the same Web site as yourdomain.com so that people seeking to visit yourdomain.net would see the same information as those visitors viewing yourdomain.com. The simplest method for accomplishing this is to point yourdomain.net to yourdomain.com. Going to yourdomain.net would bring up the same page and directory structure as that of yourdomain.com and visa versa. With a pointer account, you could also create e-mail addresses for the yourdomain.net domain name from the yourdomain.com Control Panel. Parked domains carry a one-time charge of $10 for each parked domain.

Redirects
Redirects redirect traffic to a specified directory or page on one of your domain name accounts. For instance, you could have yourdomain.net bring up the contents of yourdomain.com/differentpage.htm . With a redirect, the address shown in the location bar will change. So going to yourdomain.net will show as yourdomain.com/differentpage.htm in the visitor's browser. You will be able to redirect all e-mail to the yourdomain.net domain to one specific e-mail account, but it does not have to be associated with the yourdomain.com account. Redirects are an additional $10/year per redirect.

Addon Domains
Addon domains are a blend of parked domains and redirects. They offer the functionality of redirects but look like parked domains. As with a redirect, you can make yourdomain.net point to a specific directory on the yourdomain.com account. But, the account will look just like its own account to a visitor. The domain yourdomain.net will show in the browser's location bar. In essence, you can split up the space on your current account into other smaller domains. As with parked domains, you will be able to set up specific e-mail address for yourdomain.net from within the Control Panel for yourdomain.com. Addon domains are an additional $1/month per addon domain.
