Setting Up Apple Mail to Access Your POP3 Account

This tutorial shows you how to set up Apple Mail to work with your e-mail account.

  1. From the Mail menu, select Preferences.



  2. Select the Accounts tab, and click the plus sign(+) at the bottom of the Accounts box.



  3. In the Account Information screen, select POP from the Account Type list, and enter your information as follows:
  4. Description
    Enter the name of your account.
    E-mail Address
    Enter your e-mail address.
    Full Name
    Enter your name.
    Incoming mail server (POP3)
    Type mail.yourdomain.com.
    User Name
    Enter your e-mail address.
    Password
    Enter the password you set up for your e-mail account.
    Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
    Select Add Server from the list.



  5. When the SMTP Server Options window displays, enter Your ISP's Outgoing Mail Server SMTP information in the field. The Server Port setting is usually set to 80.
  6. Under the Authentication list, select Password and enter your username ( your full e-mail address all lower case) and your password.
  7. Click OK.



NOTE: Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) will provide you with the correct information. Contact your Internet Service Provider to get this setting.
