Password Protected Directories

The Protect Directory Option in your Control Panel allows you to restrict access to a particular directory within your account by assigning usernames and passwords to individuals you choose to give such access. This control panel function allows you to create and manage the “.htaccess” files that are needed to password protect a folder.

In your control panel, click on the Password Protect Directory icon. You will be taken to the following screen.

Here you are asked to select the directory that you wish to Password Protect. You may select the directory from the list and then click load. You will be taken to the following screen.

The top section of this screen should indicate the directory you have selected/loaded. The bottom section is where you assign usernames and passwords. Complete this section for each user to whom you are allowing access. Click "Save" after each entry.

Once you have added users, you will see a list of these above the boxes where you add them, there will be a delete option next to each one which will allow you to delete them when you no longer want them to have access.

You may turn on and off the password protect feature. You may also change the display name for the username and password dialog box that will be displayed when a user tries to access the directory.
